Brian Johstone’s musical leanings range from Flamenco to jazz and include a multitude of genres in between.

His album “Music Whaur I’m Frae: Songs of the Scots-Anglo Borders,” produced on his label Reivers Recordings, features, in his words, “my own interpretations of the rich musical and poetic lore of my native Borderland, the sometimes wild and barren, sometimes breathtakingly beautiful, pastoral country which straddles the line where Southern Scotland and Northern England meet, known simply as ‘The Borders.'”

Refusing to limit himself to one instrument, he is as comfortable picking the banjo as he is strumming the guitar.

You can hear him Sunday evenings at The Wine Bar in Cannon Beach.
